General Dentistry in San Luis Obispo, California

A beautiful, healthy smile is important to both your overall health and your self-confidence. That’s why preventive, restorative, and cosmetic care are important elements of our general dentistry services at Magnolia Dental. We believe in caring for all of your oral health needs while helping you achieve a smile you can feel great about.

Checkups and Cleanings

For most patients, we recommend two regular dental appointments every year. These appointments will include a professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup which can lead to decay and gum disease. We will also provide an oral cancer screening and if necessary, digital X-rays. These checkups can help to prevent most serious dental issues. If any issues do develop, we can catch it early and treat your condition before it becomes serious.

TMJ Consultations

The temporomandibular (TMJ) joint connects your jaw to your skull. If you are suffering from pain in this area of your head, call Magnolia Dental for a consultation. We can try to work you in for an emergency same-day treatment if the pain is severe.

Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns are used to protect and reshape weak or broken teeth. Crowns are used to "cap" or cover a tooth to give back the lost appearance and function. They can also be used in combination with a dental implant to replace a missing tooth completely.

At Magnolia Dental, our crowns are made of porcelain, so they look natural and function perfectly.

Bridges are used to fill the gap missing teeth have left. If left alone, the other teeth can shift to compensate for the missing tooth. The end result might be a weaker jaw.

Dental bridges are attached to the teeth on either side and fill in the gap left by the missing teeth. Crowns over the remaining teeth on either side anchor the bridge into place. Our bridges are also made to match your other teeth, so they provide a cosmetic as well as functional repair.

Inlays and Onlays

When damage is too great to be repaired by a traditional filling, but a crown is not necessary, inlays and onlays can be used to restore function and appearance. Also known as indirect fillings, these restorations are custom-made outside of the mouth and then bonded to the tooth. Inlays are used for damage that is on the chewing surface between the cusps, while onlays cover at least one of the cusps or points of the tooth.

Mouth Guards

Mouth guards are worn over the teeth. They are used to protect teeth from sports injuries and teeth grinding. You can buy a mouth guard at most sporting stores, but at Magnolia Dental in San Luis Obispo, California, our mouth guards are custom made to fit your teeth for the best comfort and protection.

Mouth guards can also protect your teeth if you’re prone to grinding them during sleep. Our mouth guards are available for adults and children alike.

No matter the purpose you select the mouth guard for, make sure to wash it daily. It goes into your mouth, so it becomes part of your dental hygiene regimen. Also, don’t forget to bring it in during your regular dental visit so that we can examine it.

Sleep Apnea

If you suffer from sleep apnea, we may be able to provide a custom-made oral appliance to treat sleep-disordered breathing. This includes snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) which can cause you to lose your breath during sleep.

An oral appliance is worn only during sleep. It fits like a mouth guard or retainer and prevents your airway from collapsing by supporting the jaw in a forward position. Your oral appliance will be specially fitted just for you.

This is actually a well-established office of Doctors Solomon and Hollister. Doctor Solomon is my elderly mother's dentist/oral surgeon, and she is extremely pleased with the care she's received here...and there's a fine old magnolia tree just outside the door!
